Some sad news...Tunde and the boys are planning on going on hiatus to take a break from touring for a while. It's been a hectic year for TV on the Radio, and a break from the road (and each other) looks to be on the cards. MTV caught Tunde backstage at the Outside Lands Fesitval, and he had the following to say: "We've been on tour for almost a year now, and towards the end of the year, you do end up getting things out during the show, subliminally, that you can't get out with someone on a bus. Because you can say something to someone on the bus, and then after you've let it out, you realize you've got six hours sitting across from that person. Like, 'Remember when I called you a d--- a while ago? That was just, uh, caffeine and all sorts of sleep depravation talking, and I really didn't mean it, and I hope you don't take it to heart, even though I can tell that you are because you're not talking to me.' It's basic cabin fever." The full article can be found here. It's very saddening, but at the very least we have Rain Machine (and a tour) to keep us topped up with TV on the Radio goodness for the time being! Come over to the forum here to discuss :) Rain Machine LP TracklistingOh how exciting this is becoming. Kyp's wonderful experimental side project is taking form, and he has released a tracklisting as follows:
Kyp Solo Album!!How exciting! Kyp has announced details of a solo project entitled Rain Machine, with a debut album due in a few months (autumn/fall 2009). Kyp had the following to say, in a statement released earlier today: “I've been writing and recording songs alone since I moved to NYC in 2000, at first alone because I didn't know anyone, then through the years by choice because of a particular freedom that going it alone afforded,". "I’ve played regularly since then, at first under the name Black Lights until some kids in Texas told me they were already using that name. Then under my own name but I didn’t like how 'Kyp Malone' looked on mock ups of t-shirts and fliers, thus Rain Machine” “[the album is] a nearly full spectrum of frequencies audible to the human ear -- a reflection of a variety of emotions and situations real and imagined, some rhythm and some rhyme.” That last paragraph is really interesting; a full spectrum of frequencies? It certainly sounds like whatever he's planning is going to be interesting, varied and definitely unique. Stay tuned for more information as and when tvontheradio.co.uk gets it!
